Kelli Schaefer

Kelli Schaefer is a singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon with a bold indie rock sound built on robust guitars and strong beats paired backing her high-powered vocals. Perhaps more importantly, she stands out with her propensity for off-the-beaten-path songwriting and passionate music that knows how to deliver a punch in original ways. There are aspects of her overall style that fit nicely into the PJ Harvey mold, not only sonically, including sporadic moments in her vocals, but also in terms of her ability to maintain an authentic edge. It was perhaps in that spirit that Schaefer took a turn towards a quieter sound in her 2024 album Even Still, where she shifted her focus to constructing intricate melodies and rich textures though acoustic instrumentation, exposing her more folk and classical oriented side as an artist.
