Holly Humberstone

Holly Humberstone is a singer-songwriter whose brooding songs often come with plenty of effective, well constructed, and well-placed pop hooks. She sings in a breathy voice that keeps an even keel for the most part, which gives her music a nice balance especially on her quieter ballads. There are some indie rock elements that surface on her upbeat songs, where she pushes enough to get a nice uplift but typically pulls back from going all the way into anthemic bursts. Strong as her songs are melodically, their focal point remains to be the emotional weight they deal with in terms of love and loss and other kinds of bumps in the lifecycle of romantic relationships.
