Her New Knife

Her New Knife is a shoegaze band whose work is shaped by a mixture of slacker esthetics and the intimate, small space feel that often comes from a bedroom recording approach to music. The band leans hard into the shoegaze sound by making distortion often central to their sound, paired with a mumbly delivery and an overall blurry layer that lies on top. They tend to be on the pensive and droney side as well, and it seems like they were touched by the magic dust put out into the ether by Slint decades ago.  That said, their recent releases suggest a shift towards a more open sound, still raggedy, raw, and fully unpolished, but also with a distinctly underground edge and a somewhat experimental streak lurking under the surface.
