A Country Western

A Country Western plays guitar-driven, alt-rock style of music with an unpolished edge and fuzzy tones. They are snappy wrt their melodies, with a rough, though not necessarily aggressive, feel in their flow. That said, they have been something of a moving target stylistically, going back to their early days as a lo-fi indie rock duo between drummer Garrett Miades and guitarist Derek Hengemihle, whose music might have passed as the missing demo tapes of early Sebadoh. The band retained their original layer of haze on their second major release, birdfeeder (2021), where their shoegaze tendencies were coupled with a sound that was settling more firmly in the slowcore territory. Their current bolder and more dynamic sound developed later as they expanded into the four-piece they are today.
