fuvk

fuvk is the stage name used by singer-songwriter Shirley Zhu, who kept herself anonymous the first few years of her career, then made her name public in 2019. She typically plays her songs on an acoustic guitar, sometimes accompanied by a single other acoustic instrument, or at most a small band as has been the case lately. Her music falls somewhere between bedroom pop and traditional solo acoustic balladeering. Zhu excels in her ability to put together songs with melodies that are as striking in their catchiness as anyone else active out there in the music world today. The songs may not be terribly uplifting or happy for the most part, but they are in no way tranquil or sleepy. Her finger picked guitar is nimble and drives her songs forward.
