Gully Boys are a Minneapolis based indie band that combines a harder edged rock style with a noticeable pop bend. They started with a relatively rougher sound but grew to become more polished since then, as they embraced their pop component a little closer. Their layered and sophisticated approach to their arrangements recalls the work of bands like Hole in the '90s. Their music also has a similarly muscular feel, which they deliver with full commitment between the fuzzed up guitars and the strong rhythm section. The lead vocals are handled by guitarist Kathy Callahan, who slides between pop smoothness and grunge staccato. The other members also pitch in with respect to the vocals, sometimes trading lines.
