The Goa Express
Outline
The Goa Express is a band with a strong garage sound driven by dynamic guitars and a strong pulse. They started in the same area in West Yorkshire (Calder Valley) that also saw the emergence of acts like The Orielles, Working Men's Club, and WH Lung in recent years. The band has some stylistically fluidity, at least at this point in their career. The core of their music is defined by raw, garage-type energy and a punk-inspired rough sound, but they have also released songs that turn on post-punk with some jangle pop edge. The band's guitar work especially stands out across these minor stylistic shifts. They have the hooks and the right kind of melodic flow for their more pop outings.
