Courting

Courting is a band that rarely sits still and settles on a style or feel. Why get chained to a sound when you can roam a broad territory, zigging and zagging just for fun. They are high energy for sure, with some angular guitars and a jagged feel in their songs. Their debut album, 2022's Guitar Music, comes with a clear post-punk edge, quite along the lines of their contemporaries like Sports Team. They began to introduce more Brit pop and pop punk tones into the mix in subsequent albums, combining all these elements in different proportions at different times. Their songs are accessible throughout and remain strongly melodic as the band presents them in a bouncy, uptempo style while singer Sean Murphy-O’Neill stays close to his sardonic social observations in his lyrics.
