Colony House is an indie rock band based in Nashville with a very strong indie pop thread in their music. They write big melodies that do most of the heavy lifting in their songs, and they avoid any uncomfortable or tense sounds that could disrupt their overall tone. They use a lot of rousing vocals, leading into an anthemic build up which then resolves into a giant sing-along choruses. The songs have some stylistic diversity that goes beyond the mandatory ballads. There are references to Smiths-like guitar lines here, Queen-like vocal overlays there, and old-fashioned rock'n roll detours in-between, which the band is able to pull off with a sense of conviction and dedication to the pop engine that drives their music under the hood.
