Deantoni Parks

Deantoni Parks is a drummer and electronic artist who has played in a few bands and collaborated with a number of artists over the years, but takes on modern experimental music as a composer and performer in his solo work. He tends to use rhythmic elements from hip-hop and other contemporary genres, and molds them into a somewhat formalist music as he explores textures and abstract spaces. There are some similarities between his work and JoJo Mayer's over at Nerve, though Parks has been gravitating towards the electronic and slightly glitchy side of the aisle while Mayer is focused on his drum 'n' bass roots. He is a highly accomplished drummer and is recognized as such among his peers, but his approach to music often downplays instrumental flashiness in favor of complex beats, and that choppy, stuttering flow.
