Crooked Colours

Previously a trio, Crooked Colours is the project of multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer Phil Slabber, who plays primarily dance-oriented electronic music that also comes with a strong pop heart at its core. Underneath the synth effects and the electronic beats there are some clear melodies with subtle phrasing and an emotional weight. His songs  are fairly calm in presentation and project a sense of vulnerability as well. Think Alt J with deeper synth effects and dance grooves rather than folk accents. Slabber's vocal delivery may be another point of comparison. That said, the songs are solid, the pace is dancey but chill at the same time, and the use of the guitar helps their sound break the synth-pop mold.
