Cold Cave is often a moniker used by Wesley Eisold, a singer- songwriter, and a keyboard player, except it was the name of his band for a while for all practical purposes, then it wasn't. It has since then mutated into a moniker+1, now including his co-songwriter, synth player and partner, Amy Lee. His style has been fairly stable over the years without going through any significant changes or redefinitions, save for minor glimpses of an underlying bliss evolving below the surface in recent years. There are plenty of New Order and Depeche Mode influences in his music in terms of the way synths play into his sound, with the darkness dialed up to Joy Division and Sisters of Mercy levels. He sings with a light baritone that fits the mood of his songs. which tends to evoke a sense of the somber rather than anguish and despair.
