She Past Away

She Past Away is a darkwave band that is the guitar/keyboards duo Volkan Caner and Doruk Öztürkcan, who capture the early '80s goth vibes, modelling their sound on the work of some of the classic bands in the genre, such as The Cure (think Pornography) and Sisters of Mercy. The band originated in Bursa, Turkey, and their songs are exclusively in Turkish. Caner handles the vocals with his deep, built-for-goth voice that conveys a fairly bleak tone. The guitars often push a fair amount of flanger effect. The bass typically drives the riff and the (programmed) drums set the tone for the music, with the synths contributing greatly to the overall atmosphere. Their songs have just the right amount of melodic touch and catchy hooks that give the hypnotic flow of their music some relief.
