Chime School

Chime School is the project of drummer Andy Pastalaniec who has been playing with various bands in the San Francisco scene over the years, most prominently with Seablite. He took the pandemic shutdown of 2020 as an opportunity to go ahead and start producing his own work. His music turns out to be a massive pop fest that brings together '60s style jangle (The Byrds, as the most prominent example) and its '80s reincarnation in the post-punk context (see The Smiths, Felt). His songs are bold and confident, relentlessly upbeat and catchy. Pastalaniec moves smoothly between songs, unabashedly basking in the glory of the chiming guitars and the nimble bass.
