The Umbrellas

The Umbrellas are a San Francisco based band that has gone all in on the jangle pop, upbeat happy melodies, and otherwise songs oozing with all kinds of joy. Even their songs meant to be on the sad side come with their usual pep except they are slowed down a bit. Their songs are highly melodic and are filled with bright, sparkly tones. The two vocalists of the band, Matt Ferrara and Morgan Stanley take turns leading songs, injecting nice male/female dynamics into their harmonies as they occasionally trade line edging on some of the '60s girl band vibes. Their jangle also feels like it could have come directly from the original '60s bands (such as The Byrds) that walked that path, as well as some of the '80s bands (most famously, The Smiths).
