Charlotte Day Wilson

Charlotte Day Wilson is a Toronto based singer-songwriter whose music focuses on R&B ballads and comes with some folk undercurrents that are hard to miss. She stays relatively close to the genre conventions stylistically and sings with a smoky voice that  powerful, deep, and earthy, projecting a sense of grandeur. She balances all that with her understated instrumentation and relatively sparse arrangements, which keep her songs well-grounded. There is quite a bit of restraint in her music where the tone stays even and does not kick into soaring heights even when she slips into gospel type presentation occasionally. Her hooks are generally low-key but effective, introducing melodies that are consistently engaging.
