Breanna Barbara

Breanna Barbara is a singer-songwriter who combines southern gothic blues with edgy New York indie sound. She has a dark, smoky voice, and a good vocal burst. Her 2016 album Mirage Dreams had a strong rock orientation where the songs tended to have a mid-tempo core that led to explosive peaks. She then went through a period of wistful songs that evoked a sense of space with sparser instrumentation and a deliberate pace, though still embracing the darker tones. She then came right back in 2022 with Nothin' But Time, where she brought back some of her harder edges. There are still callbacks to her old gothic roots and that hot, humid feel, except it now has more rock mixed in than before.
