Vera Sola

Vera Sola is the stage name singer-songwriter, guitarist, poet Danielle Aykroyd uses as a recording artist. She writes a lot of ballads at a deliberate pace with a haunting, dream-like quality and vocals that are often considered ethereal. Some elements of her music, especially the finger picking has shades of Leonard Cohen in it.  There is a distinctly cinematic quality to her sound that comes from the combination of the tremolo that evokes Ennio Morricone's western soundtracks, her love for reverb, the fever dream sense of her soundscapes, and the dark gothic storylines of her lyrics. She has a commanding voice that she tends to undersell a bit. She also happens to be a multi-instrumentalist who played all the instruments on her 2018 debut album Shades.
