Boris

Boris (aka ボリス) is a highly prolific Tokyo based metal band that has been active since the mid '90s, covering a wide range of metal styles during that time, from heavy metal to stoner to doom. All through their career they have been able to finely calibrate the exact level of aggressiveness and harshness of their sound and the precise flavor they want to get across in any given song. Most of their recent work has been built around heavily distorted drones that play out like ambient music that is creeping out from some dark and threatening place. There are some Melvins type sludge in their music which at times approaches the halfway point towards Sunn O))) from the pacing and mood point of view. Their Heavy Rocks series, on the other hand, is where they pursue a more psychedelic, almost '70s style metal sound along the lines of Black Sabbath.
