BLK ODYSSY

BLK ODYSSY has been a continually evolving project by Austin based artist Juwan Elcock who has shifted his style a couple of times in the past few years, having recently landed in an uptempo form of pop with rock elements and slightly R&B shaded delivery. This is particularly true for the bold and open sound he developed in his 2024 concept album 1-800-FANTASY, which helps create a large canvas for the story he tells. Before that, he tended to favor a slow-jamming, smooth and seductive R&B mixed with soul grooves and hip-hop, that also brought jazz and neo soul motifs into his music. Elcock's commitment to regularly change things up goes deep, as he was working in the Americana space under the name Sam Houston prior to all that.
