Blackwater Holylight

Originally from Portland, OR, Blackwater Holylight is an LA based band that plays stoner rock, drawing inspiration from the usual sources: some elements of doom metal with selective bits of psychedelic that is served with plenty of heavy metal accents. It is often downer music with a powerful, crunchy sound and dark tones, except it is also relatively restrained wrt gloom. There is a sense of brightness in their songs that lies in between the lines, which makes it easier to consume their work in chunks without getting lost in a sense of despair. They are a tight ensemble with all the necessary power moves and a gripping presentation. They are also no strangers to toning it down and bringing an acoustic instrument to the mix at times, or get elegiac when the mood strikes.
