Belako is a four piece indie rock band from Mungia, Spain (in the Basque Country), that comes with good creative energy and immediately accessible songs. Their music is chockfull of good alt rock riffs paired with rich vocal melodies served with a whole lot of enthusiasm. The band plays as a very tight unit: the bassist Lore Billelabeitia is a formidable groove machine and together with the drummer Lander Zalakai's solid, inquisitive but confident drums, they form a strong rhythm section. This only make the work of the other Billelabeitia sibling, Josu, much easier and more fun as he riffs, leads, and chimes on the guitar with a lot of clarity. Singer Cris Lizarraga also brings in additional texture on the keyboards. The songwriting is excellent. The melodies stick but do not dominate and the music is well-balanced indie rock that is not too moody or angry.
