Kills Birds

Kills Birds is a high octane indie rock band with a grunge streak that exudes raw energy while also retaining a fairly high level of musicality. In that regard, they are similar to a number of the strong bands that dominated the grunge era in music. There is a bit of a Dave Grohl (back in the Nirvana days) in the way Bosh Rothman pounds the drums, complemented by Fielder Thomas' thumping bass, which is par for the course. Vocalist Nina Ljeti is positively magnetic as the frontwoman. Her singing style has an almost percussive quality in the way she stomps on her syllables. Jacob Loeb's guitar is comfortable in the driver's seat, going through cycles of tension and release, playing just as effectively at a frenetic pace as he is when he is holding back a little.
