Boy Azooga

Boy Azooga is an indie pop/indie rock band led by singer guitarist Davey Newington. In addition to having plenty of pop hooks and an overall upbeat, buoyant sound, their music has an eclectic nature in terms of influences. It freely incorporates bits and pieces of a variety of genres, including glam, funk, synth pop, psychedelic jam, and disco. The melodies tend to be catchy, tapping into the same primal joy centers in the brain as early '70s moog pop (think Pop Corn). Newington's vocals are gentle, occasionally visiting the Beach Boys territory. Their songs usually have a strong beat or something interesting going on rhythmically, although his arrangements are generally  straightforward ... of course, with special room reserved for those snappy synth phrases.
