Amy Gadiaga

Vocalist, bassist, and composer Amy Gadiaga was raised in Paris, but found her footing in London's jazz scene. She brings pop and jazz together in her music, not by mutating either form to sound like the other, but by overlaying one on top of the other, and giving both parts their full due in the process with her remarkable skills in composition. Her pop has some neo soul tones in general, though this is not always prominent: she has some songs that tap into a rich French pop vein, which brings more shades into her catalog. On the jazz side of things, she stays fairly close to a conventional sound, keeping her focus on the double bass and acoustic instruments for accompaniment. She channels flavors of peak '60s sound and displays them boldly and confidently.
