dälek

dälek (stylized in lowercase and pronounced like dialect) is the rapper/producer duo MC dälek and Mike Manteca, who have been approaching hip-hop from an experimental angle, exploring different textures that come from darker regions of modern popular music. They bring in electronic, industrial, and shoegaze elements as well as metal and krautrock to cover a broad range of the gloomy drone world. MC dälek raps in a natural speaking style as he forcefully delivers his lines with some anger. Mike Manteca's production mixes things with ambient noise, post-rock moodines, heavy grooves, and anything else that helps hang a sense of dread and menace over the audience.
