Les Eurockéennes de Belfort is a 4-day music festival taking place in a nature preserve on a peninsula between lakes North of the French town of Belfort, near the German and Swiss borders. The name is a bit of wordplay blending les Européennes (the Europeans) with 'Rock'. It was the first Rock music festival of its kind (outdoors, multiple stages, multiple days) in France and was established in 1989. It has grown to be one of the largest music festivals in Europe and draws over 130,000 attendees. While a good proportion of performers could still be classified as Rock artists, other popular genres are well represented.
The festival further distinguishes itself in its commitment to environmental sustainability, especially given its location, and its organization by the non-profit Territoire de Musique.
