The Wytches

Brighton based band The Wytches embrace a form of alt-rock with overt garage and surf rock flavors. Prior to 2023's Our Guest Can't Be Named, the band was leaning more heavily towards the alt side, adopting a smidge softer take to an extent. A lot of the basic ingredients of the sub-genre are built into their work, especially the sandy texture of vocalist Kristian Bell's angsty delivery and songs that move between gentler, somewhat plaintive tones before bursting out with power. The overall hardening of their sound and the addition of bits of surf guitar and a slight psychedelic edge (at least at an impressionistic level) brought an extra dimension to their work in recent years.
