Widowspeak

Widowspeak is the guitarist duo Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas whose songs have laid-back and dreamy tones and easy-going melodies that patiently worm their way through the listener's ears. Stylistically they fall somewhere in the intersection of indie folk, dream pop, and jangle pop, taking a little from each to construct a distinct sound. Vocalist Molly Hamilton's murmured vocals and the calmness in her delivery adds another layer to the atmospheric feel of their music. They are remarkably consistent in putting together lovely melodies and combine them with lush arrangements and a sense of storytelling. The effortless flow that characterizes their work has been present throughout their career even when they were exploring country or '70s west coast country rock sounds in their earlier albums.
