Waltzer

Waltzer is an indie band led by singer-guitarist-songwriter, Sophie Sputnik, whose music reaches back into the classic period of rock music and plucks an attitude from different corners of the era and reinterprets them in the context of contemporary indie rock. That is a mouthful way of saying that her music sounds retro and modern at the same time. Sputnik has the songwriting chops (and the guitar skills) to pull this trick off with some solid pieces of music that accesses '70s rowdy blues riffs and soul, '50s doo-wop tunes, '60s pop and girl band vocals as needed without spending more time in that world than she needs to. At the end her music pretty much captures the thrills of the past and translates them to today's audience.
