Tuhaf

Based in Copenhagen, Tuhaf is an indie band with a strong psychedelic feel that brings Turkish folk motifs and Danish traditional elements into their music. There are also glimpses of the first wave prog mindset hidden between the creases of their music in the way they shift mood and tempo, or introduce additional themes in the course of their songs. This is clearly not the main focus of what they do, but it is there in the background. Their earlier work was centered around Turkish folk as the band was exploring Anatolian rock ideas though without adopting its full range of idiosyncrasies the way Altın Gün does, for instance, while their debut album, 2022's Mere Geld, extends their sound beyond its '70s inspired base into a fascinating territory. Their vocalist Berrin Baş, who alternates between Turkish and Danish, has quite a presence in the band.
