Swiss Portrait is the moniker used by singer-songwriter Michael Kay Terence, who plays a particularly dreamy version of dream pop in a bedroom style production where he handles all the instruments as well as the engineering. His music has plenty of shimmer and haze, and an overall sound that is reminiscent of some of the early pioneers of the genre, such as Cocteau Twins, Lush and that whole '80s 4AD sound. He also taps into jangle pop tones in his songs, often wrapped inside the swirl of his overall sound. His melodies tend to be delicate and he sings them generally in a thin and gentle voice that floats between layers of his guitar and drums. He has a relaxed delivery that matches the airy nature of his work.
