THUS LOVE

THUS LOVE (stylized in all caps) is a Vermont based post-punk band that takes on a few of the defining characteristics of the genre but also tinkers with it effectively to make it their own. The core of their post-punk vibes comes from singer guitarist Echo Mars' guitar action. She covers a broad range of the '80s guitar sounds from the jangly parts to the classic sparkly shimmer. It also helps that her vocals have quite a bit of Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus) and Richard Butler (of the Psychedelic Furs) type timbre and resonance, with a similar sheen in delivery and melodic flair. The drums and the bass generally stay close to a propulsive indie type rhythm work underneath, though there are times when they also join the post-punk fun when they lock into a repeating pattern, which is a staple of the genre.
