Stevie Dinner

Stevie Dinner is the duo Josh Hughes and Steph Rinzler, who bring an exceptionally rugged, lo-fi esthetic to a punkish underground sound. There is a rough streak to their sound in terms of its construction and production, along with plenty of vibrancy and high energy. Their songs often feel like a rush of ideas bouncing across the tracks, like hyperpop without the pop. There is also a bit of a throwaway quality in an easy come, easy go sense, where Hughes and Rinzler do not seem to be precious about their work. That adds an anarchic layer to their music, which may come across as scattered for some, though in a thoroughly refreshing way. Their melodies are as catchy and infectious as they can get without slipping into the earworm territory.
