Slift

Slift is a Toulouse-based rock band led by the Fossat brothers on guitar and bass. Their music explores the psychedelic space with strong sci-fi themes and metal vibes. They have a highly-driven, aggressive style of playing, and do a good job in creating a sense of tension through their use of doom metal elements that are often mixed into their krautrock style motorik beats. The result is not so much a rolling sensation on an open road, but the feeling of being chased by something on a bumpy road in a Mad Max landscape. Quite a few of their songs go beyond the conventional length for rock songs, typically taking their time on expansive guitar solos that transport the audience into a relatively darker terrain. The music is formally aligned with metal, but they do sometimes produce pieces that are more psychedelic than otherwise.
