Adam Scrimshire (who goes by his last name alone) is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer who approaches jazz from multiple directions that gives his music a sense of breadth. He is a stylistically diverse artist who makes soul a key element, as he regularly circles back to motifs that evoke the vintage sound of the genre, including a funky groove or two along the way. Otherwise, he is usually close to fusion and pop jazz styles from '70s and '80s, though he also has an electronic component that combines with his classical music esthetic which gives rise to atmospheric pieces that occasionally hints at chamber jazz, assuming he has not already taken a short detour into the neoclassical world. His work tends to be on the calm and unhurried side. It is introspective in mood and quite rich in texture.
