Samia Finnerty, who goes by her first name alone, is a singer-songwriter and an indie artist who works at the intersection of rock and pop, with more than a dash of '90s alt-rock feel in the right places. She has a knack for writing memorable songs that are personal in nature and come with a lot of honesty and sincerity in dealing with her insecurities and anxieties. Her melodies are strong and clear, but they are also growers to some extent in terms of how they tend to reveal their full flavor after repeat listens. She also has a streak for playing with the texture in production, adding in speech snippets, so on, to construct a larger narrative across her songs, which was particularly on display in her debut album, 2020's The Baby.
