The Regrettes

The Regrettes were a four piece indie pop band whose high-powered catchy songs often referenced '60 girl band vocals and the garage pop of the period. These influences were more pronounced in their debut album, but lost their prominence starting with their second, 2019's How Do You Love? as they moved closer in line with current pop sounds. The band underwent some personnel changes during that period as well, introducing a new rhythm section to replace the original. But at the end, they were driven by singer guitarist Lydia Night's sharp songwriting. She has a good feel for putting together nice melodies that stick in the listener's mind, and effective lyrics that construct a narrative around her emotional life. The band's arrangements were clear, the hooks are good, and their delivery is energetic and crisp. The band came to an end in 2023.
