The Rain Dogs
Outline
There are a few Rain Dogs out there in the musical landscape, and one of them is the post-rock and ambient artist Gareth Bouch, who records as The Rain Dogs. He is a multi-instrumentalist producer who constructs music that comes in various shapes, quite frequent among them are his introverted pieces that explore space through sonic textures, not dissimilar to what Talk Talk towards the end. He also moves along a more percussive path with an industrial tinge sometimes, or turns to drones that patiently build into entire soundscapes, or puts out contemplative improvisational pieces that quietly hang in the air. His work operates through a subdued mood that draws the audience in. It is music that works on an epic scale in terms of scope, but remains intensely personal at the same time.
