Post Animal is a rock band from Chicago with strong roots in psychedelic and progressive rock, with occasional forays into indie pop and hard rock. The band has multiple songwriters so there is a diversity in their sound, but they don't sound disconnected or too eclectic. Their affinity towards the classic rock sound provides the connective tissue between their prog and psychedelic, taking their inspiration mostly from first generation prog bands in the mid and late '70s (perhaps a bit of Kansas in there, minus the bombast) as well as some of the more modern incarnations of psychedelic, following bands like Tame Impala. Their earlier work also sorted as sound that was closer to vintage hard rock from the late '60s. They write quality hooks, syncopated grooves, and they make use of classic guitar pedals and the classic organ sound.
