Drugdealer is the moniker used by singer-songwriter Michael Collins, who used to do lo-fi, partly psychedelic music as Salvia Plath but then changed directions towards mellow songs and went all in on the concept of leaning back and just chilling. His music as Drugdealer has very pronounced Laurel Canyon soft rock feel with gentle melodies and even gentler instrumentation that includes slinky guitar lines, lush string sections, silky fender rhodes tones, and velvety sax accompaniment. It is a perfect musical encapsulation of an era in that sense. On the other hand, Collins is one smooth songwriter who excels in the genre. He is able to go down a bunch of well-travelled paths in this particular world and come up with gems that would have done very well on the radio back in the '70s.
