Palace

Palace is an indie band with a broad, wistful sound that fits comfortably in the mold of peers like Local Natives. They create a kind of pop that expands in cinematic tones, paired with contemplative lyrics and gentle, warm delivery.  This is soothing music that hugs the listener for reassurance on a rough day. Vocalist Leo Wyndham's voice projects a sense of serenity that is more than matched by the calm and steady demeanor of the band's instrumentation. That said, a song like "Goodbye, Farewell" also hints at perhaps an anxious stream flowing under the surface that has not been fully tapped into yet.  The songs are strongly melodic at their core without pushing it all the way to the front, preferring subtlety and mood over pronounced hooks.
