Kevin Morby

Kevin Morby is a singer-songwriter who works in the indie folk style with an eye towards indie rock. He moves in that direction every now and then, but he usually sticks with folk. He has a distinctive sound with a quietly cutting edge and an effortless flow. His songs are not overtly melodic, but they have a way of sticking around in the listener's mind, with good revisiting value. He is considered Dylaneque in some quarters, though he also has a Cohenesque side that surfaces in his occasional speak sing style and a layer of darkness that lurks under the surface in some of his songs. He has been very consistent with respect to the quality of his work over the years. His 2023 album More Photographs (A Continuum) includes some new songs as well as reworked versions of some of the tracks from his previous album This is a Photograph.
