Nappy Nina

Rapper, producer Nappy Nina is Oakland raised, Brooklyn residing artist Simone Bridges who brings her slam poetry background to her music. She has been collaborating with a variety of artists and producers since her start in the '10s, and a feature of her sound that that has stayed more or less consistent through the years is the disorienting woozy beats that can get a little slippery. She takes on boom-bap and bass, among others, with subtle nods at electronic music. There is a low-key R&B accent to her melodic flow. Her delivery is on the quiet side, conversational, suggesting a bit of a "note to self" feel. It can, however, get quite fiery and rapid fire without losing that essential hushed tone.
