The Muslims
Outline
The Muslims are a trio from Durham, North Carolina with overflowing punk energy and a combative attitude. Their songs tend to be overtly political, frequently built around their identities as queer people of color. That said, they are also a band that displays remarkable musical aspirations, as is visible in their 2020 EP, Inshallah: Tomorrow We Inherit the Earth, which is filled with dissonant pieces that shrug off all conventions of punk and rock, arguably the ultimate punk move in and of itself. On the other hand, their more punk-as-we-know-it style songs display quite a bit of wit and humor in addition to anger. The band is strong on both the musicianship and songwriting fronts, and they continue to put out some classic, anthemic punk tunes that are likely to make an appearance at a political rally near you.
