ML Buch

Marie Louise Buch, known in the business as ML Buch, is a Danish guitarist and singer who plays a style of music that sits comfortably in the nebulous sections of the indie rock deck, placing emphasis on a dreamy sound. Though she started with a more conventional pop approach initially, she moved decidedly in an instrumentally driven, abstract direction, taking the lead with her 7-string guitar on 2020's Skinned. She keeps her focus on sonic textures and the use of space, employing various pedal effects that yield a lush sound as she incorporates casually rendered ambient coloring into her pieces. Her vocals tend to be soft but also somewhat distant, almost as if they are intended for their atmospheric value. This is music that is fairly contemplative, introspective and elegant.
