Mengers

Mexico City based Mengers are a band that has gone through some stylistic shifts since their 2021 debut album GOLLY, but did not let that interfere with the consistency of their overall sound. Brothers Calderon and their long-time friend bassist Mauricio Suárez started as an outfit that combines art punk and noise flavored rock. They then adopted elements of no wave and gained an experimental edge on i/O the following year. They sounded more settled in and accessible, but also more electronically leaning and avant-garde at the same time on 2025's Flavio. Their music is fiery, hard-hitting, often loud, and with plenty of distortion. They habitually make lots of bold choices end to end, which adds an extra layer of thrill to their work.
