Mary Jane Dunphe

Before she launched her solo career with 2023's Stages of Love, indie artist and a poet, Mary Jane Dunphe was an active member of the Olympia, WA music scene playing with various underground bands, moving between punk, synth pop, and country. Her music currently explores a goth tinged, dark and moody post-punk sound. It is primarily synth-driven, sharp, edgy, and evokes aspects of electronic music with beats that would fit right in with industrial. In a way, she follows the stylistic path she laid out in her earlier days working with CC Dust and especially CCFX, with the 4AD influences turned down a couple of notches. She sings in a low, imposing voice that packs a lot of power and gives her songs deeper resonance.
