Madi Diaz

There are currently two distinct phases to singer-songwriter Madi Diaz: The first one is her work in the '10s where she plays a country flavored form of indie rock with often mid-tempo songs that come with overt pop orientation. Then we have the version of her that re-emerged after a long break in the '20s: a sedate and melancholic artist going through a major personal disappointment and its aftermath. This is documented in her so-called "heartbreak trilogy" which starts with 2021's History of a Feeling and is said to be concluded on 20225's Fatal Optimist. This is also a period that finds her taking a big leap forward in her songwriting and exposing more layers of subtlety in her craft by stripping her music down in instrumentation and placing emphasis on subdued lyricism.
