Lung

Lung is a Cincinnati based indie rock duo formed by vocalist/cellist Kate Wakefield and drummer Daisy Caplan. Their music comfortably walks the line between metal and '90s alt-rock with some art rock relishes that creep into their music due mostly to their instrumental choices and some of Wakefield's relatively out there vocal delivery. Part Amanda Palmer from her Dresden Dolls days, part Sonja Kristina of Curved Air, she is often the sole force that carries the melodies forward. The way she uses her electric cello may be the biggest light bulb moment one gets hearing the band: Wakefield gets a lot of the customary electric guitar riffing from her instrument, creates a solid low end to their music, and even lets it ring like a cello on occasion. Daisy, on the other hand, is a propulsive drummer that provides the sturdy ground as needed and pushes up the beat when it is time to take it up a notch.
